There’s nothing like a good movie, right? Movies can make you laugh, cry, and best of all, sweep you up into entirely different place and time.

When a movie has a beautiful set design, it makes it that much better. Admittedly, when watching a good flick, I can become so enthralled with the set, that I have no idea what actually taking place in the story.

Here are some of my all time favorite movie sets!

1. Something’s Gotta Give.

The Room. The Movie. We all know it, right? The fabulous Hampton’s beach house in Nancy Meyer’s Something’s Gotta Give. I can envision myself drinking a glass of Pinot in this room, reading US Magazine, while Dianne Keaton makes me a lobster dinner in kitchen.

This Master Bedroom KILLS ME. I’m pretty sure it’s as big as my whole house.

2. It’s Complicated.

Another one of Nancy Meyers’ masterpieces. Her collaborations with set designers is always spot-on.

This was the room that inspired me to paint my claw foot tub black!!

3. The Holiday.

Nancy Meyers again. She just gets it right. Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet switch homes for the holidays and its difficult to decide which home is more fabulous!

Just give me that kitchen tile and no one gets hurt.

5.  Judy Moody and the Not So Bummer Summer

Not my favorite film, of course, but love the whimsical and colorful set design:

I’ve always wanted to live on the set of Family Ties.

  2. Jen McD says:

‘Father of the Bride’ and ‘You’ve Got Mail’ (also Nancy Meyers, of course!!!). I have watched ‘It’s Complicated’ and ‘Something’s Gotta Give’ about a million times, always seeing something in the background that I’ve missed before. Basically, whatever Nancy Meyers does, I follow it. If I was ever going to leave Tom, it would probably be for her. Ha!!!

Love all of these, because they all feel like home. I could move into any one of them without changing a thing.

You know what I love about each and every one of these? It’s simple.
    No. Kid. Toys.

Love this post! Such great sets – especially SATC and The Holiday. xoxo

It’s Complicated is one of my favorite things to watch just to see Merryl Streep’s Santa Barbara home. I want to have a dinner party there, and then brunch in the garden. It’s the best part of the movie.
